Nozzle, Halligan, Helmet, FDNY app
Those are all essential tools for a modern fireman. Im notoriously cheap but, Im also a gadget geek and love anything that will organize my life AND give me all the info I need right at my finger tips, so I forked over the $9.99.
Probably the most well spent $10 I ever let leave my hand. It does take a good amount of playing with to get the hang of it but once it clicks its like the roof being open. It works best when you keep a guys group # with his contact info. Need off for a particular tour? Just touch & hold the day and a list of guys whos groups would be a good fit come up. Cuts the amount of phone calls down tremendously.
If you like to work out your MXs w/you partner a month in advance like me its helps to put yours & his vacation & RSOTs in for the year. Takes 5 minutes and theres never any last minute surprises thatll have you scrambling. P/u a tour and it keeps track of it. You can also put in a note like why you worked for them or what they needed of for. And if you have someone else pay them back you can put that in there too. Keeps the confusion about paying a tour back or who owes you to a minimum. Youll be able to jog their memory w/why and not have to search through weeks/months of entries in the book for the who & when.
Fireman notoriously dont like change. Dont be a dinosaur. If youve got an iPhone, BUY THIS APP! Get the Johnny to show you how to use it. The pocket group chart used to be the best tool an off-duty fireman had. This is incredible! And if you have any questions or suggestions the developer gets right back to you and appreciates the feedback. Its a no brainer.
